Parleys.com on Linux
This week Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch released AIR 1.0 at the Engage event in San Francisco. He showed several AIR applications including our very own Parleys.com client. As if that wasn't enough, he also presented an early AIR Linux version and guess what application Adobe used for this... yes really cool and it looked just great
You can view a bootleg (phone) video here
In the news
- Sys-con published a technical article
on how Parleys.com was started and what technology has been used, check it out. An interesting hint can be found within that article, do you know what I'm talking about ?
- A video interview
with Ben (Flex) Dobler by another Adobe guy from Belgium, Serge Jespers (hello Serge).
- RIAPedia published a great article
on our Flex/AIR launch of Parleys.com.
- IndigoJelly
is "seriously impressed" with the next generation of Parleys.com
Some Stats
So with almost 3Tb of video streaming per month, 350.000+ hits and 100.000+ unique viewers, Parleys.com is becoming a high profile eLearning platform used all over the world. And believe me, this is only the beginning...
So what's next ?
We'll make v2 public available for non registered users to further test our beta RIA application and while doing so upgrade to the final versions of AIR and Flex.
A lot of development work is happening on the server these days. The new back end will allow smooth integration with our (alpha version) publishing client. Yes... a publishing client! Registered users will be able to publish their own talks to dedicated channels in a super cool RIA way. So keep your eyes open and stay tuned, 2008 will be fun!
Cheers,
Stephan
Adobe has now published the keynote video
from the Engage conference, in this video you can also see Parleys.com running on a hand held device... very nice
(move towards 75% of the time line)
Also check out the Q&A, it's great to hear that both the CTO and CEO of Adobe like the Flex/AIR integration in Parleys.com, this motivates us even more to push the RIA limits in future releases.
